Family Foundation Lead
ZeShan Foundation, a Hong Kong-based private family foundation, is seeking a dynamic and thoughtful individual to fill a Director-level role that complements our existing team.

The Foundation gives locally and globally.  Our pillars of giving include health, social development in Hong Kong, education, disaster relief and community rebuilding, environment, and promotion of philanthropy.  Current strategic initiatives – which cut across different pillars – include eliminating viral hepatitis by creating and seeding a global fund and enabling ageing well in Hong Kong.  Examples of past programs include supporting social work education (by enhancing universities’ teaching and research capacity) and healthcare programs in mainland China.

Our programs have evolved over the years, as a result of accumulation of knowledge and experience and also in order to better respond to emerging societal needs.  However, in our approach to philanthropic work, ZeShan remains firmly committed to collaboration (not just with our grantees but increasingly with funders and other stakeholders) and to contributing to the development of the philanthropic sector as a whole.  An example is our key role in convening and providing operational support to a local network of ageing-focused funders, allowing members to share knowledge and best practices, as well as leverage on one another’s experience and resources, so that we can be more effective and efficient in tackling ageing-related issues and needs in Hong Kong.

ZeShan is looking for an experienced individual whose background and skills will complement the existing team.  Responsibilities include strategic development and implementation, as well as leading the administration and day-to-day management of the Foundation.

The candidate is someone who is independent, open-minded, creative, patient and collaborative.  S/he will have good analytical skills and be able to work on complex issues.  S/he will closely work with the family and a small team as well as a broad range of external partners and stakeholders, so strong communication and management skills are a must.  S/he will have demonstrated interest and commitment to creating social impact, as well as experience in management and leadership in the public, private or third sectors.  Knowledge and experience in philanthropy, social finance, social purpose organizations, and social innovation, as well as in social and environmental issues such as public health, social service, and sustainability are a plus.  S/he will be proficient in Cantonese/Chinese and English, with Mandarin a plus.

If you are interested in leveraging philanthropic resources for public good, let us know who you are and what is important to you at hr@sterlinggrp.com.hk on or before 30 April 2019*.  We look forward to hearing from you!

*If you have not heard back from us by mid-May, we appreciate your interest but it wasn’t the right fit.
